Rob Hayes plays guitar, keyboards, flute, sings, and composes for Sweet Maya. He began his career at age 12, forming a trio which played "covers" but mostly original songs. By high school graduation Rob had won talent shows, county-wide battle of the bands (remember those, folks!), earned the
J.P. Sousa award, and was playing gigs all over South West Michigan.

After high school Rob enrolled at Western Mich. University as a percussion major.  While at WMU he co-founded the first student-faculty rock band (which featured the late Don Bullock), played french horn in Symphonic Band, drums in Marching Band, and guitar in the Jazz Band.  All the while
he was singing and playing solo "coffee house" gigs in various venues, including the Colony Room which is lead to meeting Sweet Maya .

Rob currently resides in the Los Angeles area where he has been a professional musician/producer for over twenty years.  His original music and performances have aired internationally on television and radio.

Rob has worked (and remains on a first-name basis) with dozens of nationally recognized musicians such as Russ Mckinnon (Tower of Power, Joe Cocker), Chet McCracken (Doobie Bros.), Ndugu Chancelor (Michael Jackson, Weather Report), Forrest Robinson (India Arie), and many, many more.

Rob's current L.A. band, "The Rob Hayes Project" performs in and around Southern California and recently released it's second CD "A Hint of Moon" for Chrisalon Records.
Rob and his wife Mary Beth have two children; son Lonn is currently a percussion major at Citrus College and plays with rock group "The Last American Buffalo". Daughter Christine plays guitar, sings, composes, and
plays flute and percussion with her high school band.
